Last week, President Donald Trump delivered a joint address to Congress that was bold, optimistic and most of all, honest. He talked about the success and potential of our great country, but didn’t shy away from pointing out where we have fallen short through the years.
President Trump brings a new wave of American pride to our nation, one that we have not seen in the last eight years. No longer will veterans, middle class families, and hard-working Americans be forgotten. He is putting America and Americans first, and he wants EVERYONE to know it. His address sent a strong message to nations all over the world. As he stated, "My job is not to represent the world. My job is to represent the United States of America."
President Trump intends to continue keeping his word to the American people, from rebuilding our military to repealing Obamacare to securing our borders. It’s time to renew the American spirit and I believe President Trump is already leading the way.
"Believe in yourselves. Believe in your future. And believe, once more, in America."
-President Donald J. Trump
Christening of the Kimball
Saturday I attended the christening of the newest National Security Cutter, the Kimball at Ingalls in Pascagoula. This was the 7th ship in the legend class of National Security Cutters. I have said it many times, but the fact still remains: out of all of the shipyards I’ve visited around the world, I can say without a doubt that U.S. shipbuilders produce the greatest ships the world has ever seen.
These ships are essential in maintaining the safety and security of our nation but most of all, these ships are responsible for returning our coast guardsmen back home safely to their families. Together with the coast guard, the shipbuilders of the gulf coast, and our nation’s homeland security leadership, we will continue to strengthen what is already the best trained and most dedicated coast guard in the world.
Congratulations once again to Ingalls and especially to our outstanding shipbuilders and their families for their continued commitment to excellence!
U.S. Navy Seabees 75th Anniversary
This week the U.S. Navy Seabees celebrated their 75th Anniversary!
Since 1942 Seabees have served our country bravely during conflicts and played a vital role in communities and nations around the world. Our Seabees in South Mississippi are no exception, and I commend their hard work both here at home and abroad.
This week in Washington
