It was another busy week in Washington - from Nancy Pelosi caving to bipartisan demands from President Trump and the Senate, to the President signing the Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act of 2019 into law, to maximized pressure on Iran. During all of the exciting news coming out of the nation's capital, many Mississippians were also in DC visiting the area. Here are a few snapshots from this week!
As you may know, my Washington, DC office provides private tours for visiting constituents. This week, we welcomed families from all across Mississippi's Fourth Congressional District. Keep scrolling to see if you can spot some familiar faces!
The Purvis and Baker families!
The Moudy family!
Students visiting from the University of Southern Mississippi!
The Albritton family!
The Welch family!
Ran into this wonderful group of teachers from St. Martin North Elementary while in the Capitol!
It's not every day you see a twelve-year-old so thrilled to receive a copy of the Constitution. I enjoyed welcoming the McCarthy's to my office!
This group of bright young students were in town with the Trent Lott Leadership Institute. They visited members of the Mississippi Delegation to get an up close and personal look at the legislative process. It was great to see so many eager leaders who will soon be running our country.
We also welcomed Skylar Boyd, this year's winner of the Congressional Art Competition, and her mother Chastity to DC! As winner of the competition in south Mississippi, Skylar was flown to Washington compliments of Southwest Airlines to view her artwork in the Capitol!
This is Katie Rose Schmucker, an intern in my Washington office! Katie attends the University of Louisville but was born and raised in Washington, DC. She is the daughter of Matt and Elizabeth Schmucker. Katie enjoys giving Capitol tours to visiting constituents as well as learning more about the legislative process. I'd like to thank Katie for all of her hard work this summer.
As always, I'd like to remind you to connect with me on social media so you can receive frequent updates on the work I am doing in Congress through Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
In your service,
Steven
