As we begin to celebrate the Fourth of July, I hope you take time to stop and remember the service, dedication, and sacrifice that has paved the way for the United States.  Independence Day represents the birth of the United States of America as an independent nation.  The Declaration of Independence is the core of our country’s beliefs, which is the very makeup of our identity as citizens. Our Independence Day is a day that we reflect on the courage of the founding generation and the boldness of their declaration of eternal principles.

In Mississippi we are so grateful to honor brave men and women who have put their lives at risk to serve our country not only at home, but also abroad.  I have the sincerest gratitude, respect, and appreciation for the men and women who continue to fight for our independence each day. It is my honor to represent so many great servicemembers who serve and have served in our military and live in Mississippi's Fourth Congressional District  

As we gather around our loved ones for fireworks, music, and celebrations I urge you to remember what makes this day so extraordinary to us. I want to wish you and your family a wonderful July 4th!
