| Providing for Those Who Protect Us |
| |
|
Friends,
The world is not becoming safer, and the sacrifices our men and women in uniform make are not getting smaller. As a National Guardsman, Marine veteran, and member of the House Armed Services Committee, it is a privilege to provide guidance, funding and support for those who wear the uniform and protect our nation.
This past week, the House passed its annual defense funding bill, with $5 billion in responsible reductions over last year's budget, while still providing a pay raise for troops and their families. I am also pleased to report the bill included an amendment I sponsored that would end furloughs for all deployable, uniformed military personnel, including National Guard and Reserve technicians. I also supported efforts to end furloughs for all civilian Department of Defense employees who support our men and women in uniform every day.
I also supported a provision that prohibits NSA from targeting Americans or storing call or email data, without jeopardizing our ability to go after terrorists and foreign national suspects. You can read what the Heritage Foundation has to say about cracking down on the NSA.
As always, I encourage you to share your thoughts with me using my website, or connect with me using facebook and twitter.
In Your Service,
Congressman Steven Palazzo
