| Taking and Taxing |

Dear Friends,
Much of the media attention surrounding the ObamaCare rollout has focused on problems with the heatlhcare.gov website, security issues, and news that the president made false promises about keeping your healthcare plans.
As if that weren't enough- many of the more than 7 million Americans who will lose their current health care plans will have to make a choice: choose another policy that's likely not-so-affordable, or pay the tax mandate penalty by February 15th, 2014.
Initial estimates showed that the individual mandate tax penalty would cost Americans more than $17 billion. But now, that estimate has risen dramatically, with recent estimates showing Americans will pay more than $55 billion in tax penalties. Let's be clear: ObamaCare is essentially taking many Americans' health plans, and leaving them with a tax penalty if they fail to replace health plans they lost as a result of the law.
TAKING AND TAXING: It doesn't sound very affordable and it doesn't sound very fair.
You've probably heard about House Republican efforts to delay that individual mandate tax penalty. Despite giving businesses a break, the president refuses to join us in delaying the mandate tax for individuals. I support those delays, but I also believe we can and should do more.
We must restore America's Right to Refuse. Never before has government forced its citizens to purchase a good or service at the threat of a tax. And it should never happen again. My Right to Refuse legislation, which I introduced earlier this year with the support of Senator Marco Rubio, would effectively rip the individual mandate tax penalty right out of the heart of ObamaCare. And it would permanently protect Americans from other attempts by Congress to tax you for failing to purchase a product.
Many of you have already supported this effort, and you've supported my fight against this bad law known as ObamaCare. I want to thank you for that. We can and will continue to fight this together.
As always, I encourage you to connect with me using my website, twitter, and facebook.
In Your Service,
Congressman Steven Palazzo
