Palazzo Announces 2020 Congressional Art Competition

Washington, DC - Congressman Steven Palazzo (MS-4) today announced the 2020 Congressional Art Competition for Mississippi's Fourth Congressional District is officially accepting submissions.Sponsored by Congress, the annual competition recognizes the artistic abilities of high school students in America by displaying their artwork in the US Capitol. 

"Each year, I am continually amazed by the talent and creativity of our students that participate in the Congressional Art Competition. I know the winning student's artwork will display how beautiful the state of Mississippi is and I am once again looking forward to seeing more fantastic artwork from our high school students."

Competition details:
The 2020 Congressional Art Competition is open to all high school students, grades 9-12, who either reside or attend school in Mississippi’s Fourth Congressional District.

The winner of the competition will have his or her artwork displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. The overall winner will have the opportunity to attend the Congressional Art Competition Forum in Washington, DC, in June with Southwest Airlines providing airfare for the winner and one parent or guardian.

This year’s art competition will be judged by a panel of established artists and art teachers from around the Fourth Congressional District.  The theme of this year's art competition is “Mississippi, the Beautiful.”  Each student should use this theme to express what he or she sees as part of the beauty of our great state.

The deadline for submission is 5:00 P.M. on April 8th.   The winners will be announced on April 22nd.  Winners will be selected from the following categories:  Drawing, Painting, Mixed Media, Photography, Collage, Computer Generated, Printing, Overall Winner, Overall Runner Up.
