Gulfport, MS - Congressman Steven Palazzo (MS-4) today visited World War II, Marine Corps veteran Lee Wilson at his Gulfport residence to express his appreciation for Wilson's military service.
"I am so appreciative for moments like this. Any time that I am able to personally thank a member of the greatest generation is a good day. I am grateful to serve Mr. Wilson and wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for his years of service during World War II."
Wilson was a Pacific Theatre WWII Marine Pilot. He served as an F4U Corsair Pilot and was a two-time ACE Pilot aboard the Cabott Air Carrier until our adversaries surrendered in 1945. As a Private First class on the Cabot Air Carrier, Wilson was elevated to Captain and awarded the Pacific Theatre Medal during his time in the Marines. Born in 1926, Wilson was the son of a Marine who was raised in Pennsylvania and later relocated to south Mississippi.
Palazzo previously welcomed Mr. Wilson in Washington on an Honor Flight in 2012.
