Palazzo Announces $1.4M Grant for the City of Hattiesburg to Repair Timberton Park
Washington, DC - Congressman Steven Palazzo (MS-4) today announced a $1.4 million grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to the city of Hattiesburg to be used for repairs to the Timberton Park that was damaged during intense storms in 2017. These funds were made available under the authority of Section 406 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
"I am glad to see that the Hattiesburg community will finally be able to rebuild and repair the Timberton Park. It is important that members of the community and their families have a place to play and exercise."
On January 23, 2017, Governor Bryant requested a speedy disaster declaration for severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds, and flooding that occurred on January 20-21, 2017.
On January 25, 2017, President Trump declared a major disaster occurred in the state of Mississippi. This declaration made Individual Assistance available to affected individuals and households in Forrest, Lamar, Lauderdale and Perry Counties.
