Palazzo Votes Against Veto Override, Demands Secure Border
Washington, DC - Congressman Steven Palazzo (MS-4) released the following statement after he upheld the national emergency declaration by voting against a resolution to override President Trump's veto of H.J.Res 46.
"Democrats repeatedly choose illegal immigrants, human traffickers, gang members, and cartel members over American citizens. Today, I stand with President Trump and the American people in demanding a secure border by upholding his veto. In order to fully address the security crisis, we need to build the wall as a defensive barrier as well as increase personnel and technology. "I fully support the President's efforts to stop the invasion of dangerous gang members, immigrants, and drugs into our country. I remain committed to working with President Trump in protecting Mississippi families from the real threats emanating from our southern border." In order to override a presidential veto, a two-thirds vote is required in both the House and Senate chambers. Today's bill failed on a vote count of 248-181. ### |
