Palazzo Responds to Democrats' Attempt to Undermine National Emergency
Washington, DC - Congressman Steven Palazzo (MS-4) released the following statement after House Democrats voted to pass House Joint Resolution 46 in an effort to terminate President Trump's National Emergency declaration.
"This is a prime example of the partisan politics that the Democrats under Nancy Pelosi continue to focus on instead of addressing the humanitarian and security crisis at the border. The Democrats have failed in challenging the President's existing statutory authority and are turning to a messaging bill simply to resist in the name of politics. Having seen the crisis at the southern border firsthand, I could not in good conscience vote for this legislation. My support for the President's declaration does not waiver because I understand that border security is national security. We must provide our border patrol officers with the necessary tools to strengthen our border and protect American citizens."
