Congressman Steven Palazzo (MS-04) today welcomed Gen. Frank Grass, Chief of the National Guard Bureau, to South Mississippi.  General Grass was the guest speaker at Tuesday’s 36th Annual Salute to the Military and will spend Wednesday touring South Mississippi military facilities with Congressman Palazzo.

“I’m honored to welcome my good friend General Grass to South Mississippi and show off our military assets to him and his team.  The men and women who make up our military communities are our greatest resource, and today was a tremendous opportunity to bring a member of the Joint Chiefs here to see just what we have to offer.”

General Grass visited the Naval Construction Battalion Center (NCBC) and the Combat Readiness Training Center (CRTC) in Gulfport, as well as Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center in Hattiesburg.  The visit included tours of Camp Shelby, including its Unmanned Aerial Systems site and Maneuver Area Training Equipment Site (MATES), and a tour of the Theater Aviation Sustainment Maintenance Group at CRTC.  The group also hosted a town hall with National Guard members at Camp Shelby.

In addition to Congressman Palazzo, Gen. Grass was accompanied by his wife, Patricia Grass,  and Mississippi Adjutant General Maj. Gen. Augustus Collins and his wife Debra Collins.
