Palazzo Says President is "In Over His Head" on ImmigrationMississippi lawmaker to question top DHS officials at border hearing this weekWASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steven Palazzo, (MS-4), today condemned the recent increase of illegal border crossings along the U.S.-Mexico border as a result of Obama Administration policies. In a statement, Palazzo said: “President Obama sent a clear message of disregard to the U.S. Congress and the American people when he enacted DREAM Act-like provisions by executive order. But he also sent a clear message to the rest of the world and to those now surging our southern border. As the Administration scrambles to clean up the mess they have created, it is clear that President Obama has gotten himself in over his head on immigration. In response to the current border security crisis, I support measures to swiftly secure our borders, including use of National Guard troops.” Palazzo has previously advocated for use of the National Guard in border security efforts in his work on the Committee on Homeland Security. As part of his work on the Border Security Results Act of 2013, Palazzo lauded previous National Guard efforts along the border and requested that lessons learned from those missions be used in future border security strategies. ### Palazzo is a Marine veteran of the Persian Gulf War and currently serves as a noncommissioned officer in the Mississippi National Guard. The Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States recently awarded Palazzo with the G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery Eagle Award for his work on the House Armed Services Committee.
