WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steven Palazzo, (MS-4), today announced two upcoming events for South Mississippi veterans seeking assistance.   

“Our work continues to address the substantial, institutional problems within the Department of Veterans Affairs,” Palazzo stated. “I also want to ensure South Mississippi veterans are receiving the best service possible. That’s why I’m inviting all area veterans to join me for a Veterans Forum & Resource Fair in the coming weeks.”

Area veterans will be able to attend and share their stories and concerns as well as connect with resources and other veteran organizations. Palazzo has also dedicated a page on his website where veterans can share their stories: www.palazzo.house.gov/vastories.

Veterans in the Pine Belt region of Mississippi’s Fourth Congressional District are invited to participate in a forum at Hattiesburg VFW Post 3036 on Monday, July 7^th, from 4-6 PM. Veterans along Mississippi’s Gulf Coast are encouraged to attend a forum at Biloxi VFW Post 2434 on Tuesday, July 8^th, from 9-11 AM.

Over the past few months, Palazzo has called for the resignation of former VA Secretary Eric Shinseki, as well as supported reform legislation that would expedite firing of high-level VA officials, expand private care access to veterans at the expense of the VA, and place a two year prohibition on any VA bonuses. He has also questioned the level of care being provided at local VA facilities.
