WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steven Palazzo, (MS-4), released the following statement today in response to the release of Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl, the American POW who was captured five years ago and held by Taliban allies.
"Welcome home, soldier," Palazzo stated. "Today is an uplifting day for Sergeant Bergdahl, for his family, and for all those who have worked over the past five years to bring him home.
"In coming days, I have serious questions and concerns regarding the Administration's decision to release five detainees from Guantanamo - in negotiation with a terrorist organization - without giving thirty days notice to Congress as required by law. These are grave matters.
"As for today, we will celebrate the return of a son and the answer to many, many prayers."
