Biloxi, MS – Congressman Steven Palazzo, (MS-4), today sent a letter asking Mississippi Veterans Affairs Medical Centers to account for wait times at the Jackson and Biloxi facilities. Congressman Bradley Byrne, (AL-1), whose constituents also receive care at the Biloxi facility, joined Palazzo in the request.

“I am saddened and angered, but not surprised, to learn that the VA failures reach far past Phoenix,” Palazzo stated. “After recent reports, in addition to the gross negligence uncovered at the Jackson VAMC facility last year, I want to make absolutely certain that fellow veterans in South Mississippi are receiving nothing less than the treatment they deserve for their service to our nation.”

In addition to the letter, Palazzo has also called for Secretary Eric Shinseki to step aside as head of the Department of Veterans Affairs

Palazzo was recently awarded the G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery Eagle Award for his work on the House Armed Services Committee. He is a Marine veteran of the Persian Gulf War and currently serves as a noncommissioned officer in the Mississippi National Guard.
