Washington, DC- Congressman Steven Palazzo, (MS-4), released the following statement today after voting to hold former IRS official Lois Lerner in contempt of Congress for her refusal to testify regarding the IRS scandal targeting conservative groups.
“Americans are tired of overreaching government officials who refuse to live by the laws and rules they create. They are frustrated with an Administration that refuses to hold anyone accountable. The IRS targeting of conservative groups is one of the most disturbing abuses of power we’ve seen yet. Former IRS official Lois Lerner gave Congress no choice but to vote to hold her in contempt.”
The measure passed in the House of Representatives by a vote of 231 to 187.
