Border Security: Forty Percent Doesn't Cut It

Friends,

There's been a lot of talk about border security lately, but many would be shocked to know that we currently only have control of forty-four percent of U.S. borders. That is simply unacceptable.  We must raise the bar.

As a member of the House Homeland Security Committee, I recently added language strengthening the Border Security Results Act of 2013 by requiring increased border security standards, as well as calling on lessons learned from past National Guard border deployments. Because forty percent just doesn't cut it.

Border security is homeland security. Before any other reforms are addressed, we must remain focused on strengthening security along our borders.

I've heard from many Mississippians who share my concerns about border security. If you would like to stay up to date on these and more issues, I encourage you to join the conversation on facebook and twitter. I'd love to hear from you!

In your service,
Congressman Steven Palazzo
